Key Stage 3 is roughly equivalent to your junior phase or first three years of senior school (S1-S3) when you are between the ages of 11-14. These are seen as giving you a "broad general education" before you specialise, and help you gain the knowledge and expertise needed when you take external exams in S4. Your teacher will assess you throughout S1-S3 and will direct you into learning more challenging material to help you develop your academic knowledge.
