A pink and a blue embroidered brain

There are plenty of ways you can improve your memory or reverse its deterioration and one of these ways is to stay mentally active. Not everyone can stay physically active, or has money to attend cultural classes, and brain training apps are a great, cheap alternative.

Those that work best are ones that you enjoy, work your memory, challenge you, and offer variety to stimulate your brain. Getting into a routine is also key, and you should show signs of improvement with a daily habit of 15 to 20 minutes.

Brain-training is currently all the rage, and if you want to join in with the craze there’s no shortage of apps available that offer daily exercises designed as games, so its never been easier to find the program that feels right for you. Here are some of our favorite training apps:

Lumosity is also involved in conducting cognitive training research and facilitates the research of independent scientists from over 40 universities—all with the goal of deepening our understanding of human cognition. The Human Cognition Project (HCP) is their online, collaborative research platform. Through the HCP, they grant qualified researchers free access to Lumosity’s cognitive training tasks and research tools, as well as limited access to data on cognitive task performance.
