Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are a great way to gain the skills you need easily. Many of them are free and you can take them in your own time and at your own pace. Once you've undertaken one or two online courses you can then build on these and you can even gain Diplomas and other qualifications with them. They are also a good way to test out an industry to see whether you like it and would like to pursue a career in that sector. 

Some common online courses that might be useful to you are:

Social Media - learn how to use social media, including Facebook and Twitter for your personal use, to find work, and to help you in you career as knowledge of social media is becoming increasingly important in the workplace.

Starting a Business - if you are thinking of starting your own business there are lots of online courses on setting up a website, marketing your business, gaining negotiation skills, customer service strategies and ideas on how to grow.

Digital Literacy & IT - if you've very little idea about how a computer works or used to have an in-depth knowledge and need a bit of a refresh, online courses can help you learn the basics of how to set up an email account and use the internet, as well as an insider's guide to the Microsoft Office Suite. 

Personal Skills - learn skills that will be useful to you in looking for work including time management, job search skills and creating your CV and cover letter.
